December: Nollaig

We love Christmas here at Irish at Heart, and in our first year we couldn’t possibly let this theme pass us by. A time for family & friends, for merriment & joy, for peace & goodwill. Of course, Christmas is celebrated across the globe, & each culture has their own traditions to cherish & enjoy. However, we thought we would share some of Ireland’s greatest traditions, history and gifts with you this year.  Kicking off the holiday season with The Late, Late Toy Show, an iconic television show watched & enjoyed by children & adults across the land(an absolute must for writing your letter to Daidí na Nollaig),& wrapping up with “Nollaig na mBan” – a holiday surely unique to these shores – women’s Christmas(Christmas is hard work – on January 6th the women of Ireland finally get a chance to kick up their heels without the men). We invited our subscribers to  celebrate the holiday season with a box full of Christmas magic. Here is what our big Irish family unwrapped this Christmas -

Irish Wrap

Keep warm, and glamorous, all winter long with this amazing double width scarf. Inspired by Ancient Ireland’s love & adoration for trees, & a wink to the winter solstice, Enjoy its contemporary impression of the ancient tree of life. We especially love the gorgeous colour, a nod to the season, and incredible softness.

Handmade Glass Bauble from the Handmade Irish Glass Company

We send you an ornament that will boost your tree’s twinkle factor exponentially. Watch your little robin redbreast, our favourite Christmas bird, dance against the sparkling lights. You won’t want to pack this little fella away!

An Spideog Bheag Pin

Celebrate this sweet little Christmas bird as you proudly perch him atop your

lapel, & take him for a walk around town.

Féile Soap from Palm Free Handmade Irish Soap

Like a glass of warm mulled wine, this soap is Christmas in bar form. From our friends at Palm Free Handmade Irish Soap, notes of ginger, cinnamon, & orange are expertly blended to create a soap as beautiful as it is gloriously scented. Its confetti like appearance reminds us of streamers on New Year’s Eve. As its name implies, it is a soap for the festive season.

The Wren Song

This sweet card has been drawn just for you! We hope you enjoy this lovely little wren, the king of the birds, as much as we do. Frame him, gaze at him, love him.

Leprechaun Christmas Ornament and Magnet

We thought it might be fun to include this Christmas ornament. This musical little leprechaun may not be as elegant as a robin, but he sure is spirited. So hang him on your Christmas Tree, and afterwards stick him on your fridge (he’s a magnet too) & count the days to Paddy’s Day.
