July - Dublin

In our July box, we took our subscribers on a tour of Dublin! Famous for its historic landmarks, cobblestone lanes, literary giants - and of course, the “craic” our box was a celebration of Ireland's most iconic city.

Dublin Town Tote Bag

What better way to prepare yourself for a trip around town than with this hand screen printed organic cotton tote bag. Roomy enough for all your belongings & cool enough to give you real street cred, it depicts the beautiful Ha’penny Bridge in vibrant colour. The dynamic husband & wife team, Julie & Owen McLoughlin of Jando Designs, create gorgeous contemporary prints & totes inspired by the architecture of their city, Dublin, and further afield. Located on the banks of the Liffey, they design & print everything in their studio using only locally sourced materials.

Romping Through Gulliver’s Travels

This adorable pocket guide to Jonathan Swift’s classic, Gulliver’s Travels, is a fun, engaging, & accessible romp through one of history’s finest books.

Dublin born author, Swift, wrote this work in the style of a contemporary travel book over 250 years ago, and it is at once a tale of morality & widely thought to be the finest example of satirical writing in history. The team at At It Again have cleverly included not only a summary of the original work, but also fun facts & a walk around Swift’s Dublin, to include his alma mater, Trinity, & St Patrick’s Cathedral, where he served as Dean until his death.

Doors of Dublin Tea Towel

Whether you believe it was borne out of one-upmanship between two Dublin writers, wives helping their tipsy husbands home, or residents trying to exert their individuality in Georgian Dublin, the Doors of Dublin have become as famous as the city that houses them. While perfectly useful as a tea towel, it could also be framed – like a treasured tapestry.

Temple Bar Magnet

This fabulous magnet depicts the famous Temple Bar pub right in the heart of Temple Bar. Definitely worth a visit, it has hosted some of the finest Irish musicians over the years, from The Dubliners to The Fureys. While it’s not the oldest pub in Ireland, only open since 1840, it is certainly one of the liveliest, where you can always find a session on.

The Green Shampoo Bar

We couldn’t resist including this amazing shampoo bar from Dalkey Handmade Soaps. Shampoo bars are all the rage these days, and Val’s is particularly great. Super sudsy & delicious smelling, Val makes all of her beautiful, all natural products in her garden studio in Dalkey.

Dublin Herbalists Lip Balm

Ok, so we cheated a little – Dublin Herbalists is actually based in Co Tipperary, but founder, Claire Brett, is definitely a Dubliner at heart, and that’s good enough for us! Some of our subscribers  received sweet orange, some honey, both fabulous & will leave  lips soft, moisturised, & oh so kissable! What better way to achieve that “cailín álainn” look!
