A Taste of Irish at Heart

We’re getting to that point in the year that our breath mists the morning air, the cosy jumpers have been dug out of storage, and the first call for the heating to go on has firmly been chimed.

Yes, bidding farewell to the joys of summer is always sad, but I truly love this cosy time between autumn and winter; just before all the chaos of Christmas kicks in, and we are all content to spend that little bit more time tucked up indoors.

I don’t know about you, but for me cosy is almost synonymous with snacking – and there is no better way to indulge in a snuggly sabbatical from the outside world than with a plentiful stash of tasty treats. So I thought I would take this opportunity to share a tasty little Irish at Heart gift box with you all – featuring some of my favourite snacks from our adventure together so far. And if a box of delicious artisan treats isn't enough, we've included a free tea for you to enjoy!

Some of you will recognise these delicacies from your previous subscriptions, and will be delighted to get another bite at the apple on your favourite snacks. For those of you who are new to Irish at Heart – a whole world of culinary indulgence is just waiting to be discovered, at the very special price of $13.95 per box!

First things first... Let's explore what's inside!

Enjoy a hot cup of tea on us

Before we dive right into the conversation of cosy canapés, we wanted to make sure that a good cuppa is on offer. We've included a delicious flavour from the lovely Suki Tea Maker's in Belfast, but these teas sadly have a best before date of November 2021. Conscious of this, all orders of this will ship with the 80g Apple Mint Tea for FREE until stocks last! We didn't want them to go to waste, so these gorgeous herbal blends are on us.

If you’re after a calming infusion to soothe your soul and unwind your mind, then dip into your box of Apple Loves Mint – for a tea that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the tastebuds. Delicate scents of mint and rosebud swirl alongside the luscious of apple and papaya to create a truly tranquil brew.

What's Inside?

Each month we choose a wonderful theme to base our product curation around.

Whether it's Dublin, The Wild Atlantic Way or St Patrick's Day, we strive for every box to have something wonderful to wear, a gift to share, a treat to eat and a treasure to live in your home.

Every month we work with fantastic small Irish businesses; so no matter where you are in the world, you're helping Ireland!

A sweet on the side

Now that we’ve got the kettle on, we can start to think of that perfect accompaniment to truly set the scene – and I’ve got to say, these mouth-watering chocolate jelly stars really take the biscuit.

Think a buttery and crumbly shortbread, which has been lavished with a generous layer of creamy milk chocolate and crowned with a deliciously juicy raspberry jelly. They are a stunning addition to any plate of chocolate biscuits, although you certainly shan’t be judged for snaffling a few straight from the packet.

I was personally heartbroken when Jacob’s removed their Jelly Star Biscuit from their Afternoon Tea selection, but Hassett’s bakery taught me how to love again with their new and improved offering from their County Cork bakery.

Exotic Snacking

Turkish Delight originally hailed from the kitchens of Western Asia, but luckily for us when Haruntun & Esther Batmatzian emigrated from Armenia to County Cork in 1902 – they brought their expertise of exotic confectionary with them.

Today the delicate recipe of rose indulgence is handcrafted just as it was back then, by Hadji Bey in County Kildare, bringing an Irish charm to Turkish delight - and the result is utterly delectable. Found in only the finest stores in the UK and Ireland, we are bringing this lovely little luxury right to your doorstep – wherever you may be in the world!

From closer waters

While it’s delightful to sample the tastes brought to us from overseas – you don’t have to travel very far for delectable goodies here in Ireland.

These divinely decadent Dark Chocolate Coconut and Sea Salt Caramels include just a salty drop of Irish waters in each and every bite, layered through a creamy and coconutty caramel.

They’re the perfect little pick-me up to get you through the day, or perhaps an open box in front of a good movie could provide a gorgeous gorging session. No matter how you decide to enjoy them, you are sure to be left craving more of these sweet and salty Irish treats.

A Savoury Touch

If your tastebuds edge more towards the salty end of the palate, then there’s a treat cosied up in this box of edible wonders that’s just for you.

This luxury-sized pouch of root vegetable crisps hails all the way from Joe’s Farm in Killeagh, where he and his wife Sandra sow, grow, cook and package these rustically artisan snacks.

The variation of vegetables offers up a gourmet twist to your classic potato crisp, with a satisfying crunch and just the right sprinkling of Achill Island sea salt to bring it all together.

The bag is conveniently resealable to allow you to preserve the freshness each time you dip your hand in for more, although I can imagine these are prone to disappearing all in one sitting – especially if you’ve been generous enough to share!

Make it yourself!

For those of you who like to earn your treats, we have included a delicious baking mix so you can whip up your very own traditional Irish soda bread mix.

The beauty about this is that all of the pesky measuring of dried goods has been curated into a sumptuous recipe, just ready for you to add the finishing touches before popping in the oven and filling your home with the sweet smell of home baking. All of the taste, with just a fraction of the clean-up.

This satisfyingly savoury Irish bread soda mix is created by Wild Fuschia Bakehouse in Donegal, where Sian McCann creates classic Irish nourishment and goodness. This was chosen as a rich staple of Irish traditional cuisine, offering a tantalising taste of life on the Emerald Isle to kitchens all over the world.
