How a passion for heritage became the premier Irish Subscription Box!
"I'm very proud of being Irish and I've always loved Irish creativity in whatever form that takes.
My children, who were all born in Scotland, feel as Irish as they do Scottish and we all go to Ireland regularly. When I’m back in Ireland, I always make time to check out independent gift shops and retailers, enjoying what is on offer and in many cases bring items home for my house, my friends and family in Scotland. These gifts are always very well received - people just love a surprise present!
In 2019 I felt my children were old enough for me to get back into doing more work and I began exploring ways of bringing this passion for Irish creativity, and this experience of surprise gifting to the Irish community all over the world. That’s how Irish at Heart was born.
The box itself is a crucial part of the Irish at Heart experience. The items we source are authentic and interesting and we are delighted to support so many small independent Irish businesses. The surprise element for people living far away opening this box of Irish curated items makes this a special part of the business - exciting albeit a bit nerve wracking at points. My goal has always been to supplement the surprise of opening the box with education on the monthly theme and information on its links to Irish traditions.
My aim has always been to try as far as possible to make it a communal experience for everyone who looks at our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. We want to provide our subscribers with a closer connection to Ireland every day, as well as once a month when the little green box arrives. Since launching the Irish at Heart community has grown a lot and it has become very important to me as I knew it would do.
The feedback and positive comments I receive every month from people so happy with their box has been amazing and it has genuinely touched my heart. The personal touch of communicating with everyone and answering comments and queries has always been a big part my business as my goal has always been to create an Irish at Heart family across the world."
